semantics, semantic web, dictionary and search

Semantics is the study of meaning.

- Nice, but is it important?
- Well… yes, if we want to develop new more advanced search techniqes, introduce new effective methods of translations and let a computer understand the stored data.
- OK, so what's the point?
- The point is, that there is many semantic knowledge representation methods, many different semantic knowledge bases (ontologies, semantic dictionaries), none of them is complete and none of them can be easilly used for every kind of project.
- Oh, what a pity!
- Yeap…
- So, what are we goin' to do?
- First, we have to read sth about existing semantic projects and related works…
- And then?
- Not so fast…

I'm not an expert in the area of semantics, but I like reading about papers about it and maybe one day I'll start some project related to the topic.
